Project Helix

Project Helix is a speculative spatial concept for SpaceX's upcoming human-rated Starship which focuses on practicality, efficiency, and experiential quality.

The prospects of a crewed Starship flight is looking increasingly plausible in the next few years, what with the successful and frequent test flights and the dearMoon project commencing its search for qualified participants. Reviewing the speculative designs produced by SpaceX enthusiasts, it seems to me that most are preoccupied by luxury features and cool gimmicks rather than first-principles design and theory. In order to provide a contrast to this abundance of rendering-lead design, I thought I would try my hand at designing a central concept for a crewed Starship spatial layout.
